VAGP Awards: Leading Light

VAGP's Leading Light Award was approved by VAGP's Board of Directors May 20, 2011. The purpose of this agency award program is to recognize an agency who has taken the "Lead" in the public procurement profession through innovative ideas and achievements that "Light" the way for other public procurement professionals. The Leading Light Award will be offered by VAGP in the fall of each year with the goal of recognizing an outstanding agency within VAGP's membership. The goals of this agency award program are to promote:

  • leading Light AwardRecognition of outstanding achievements by agencies within VAGP's membership.
  • Sharing of innovative and best practices between agencies.
  • Encouragement and implementation of vendor outreach initiatives by agencies.
  • Recognition of implementation of new technology based solution within their agency.
  • Recognition of an agency who acted as lead agency in cooperative programs significantly benefiting their agency and other agencies.
  • Recognition of outstanding agency contributions to VAGP and its members.

Award Eligibility and Submission Requirements:

  • Agency submitting an award submission must have a minimum of one active VAGP member.
  • Only one award submission per agency per calendar year, unless otherwise approved by VAGP's Board of Directors.
  • Award submission must be from previous calendar year accomplishments.
  • To apply for this award, a complete submission must include: VAGP's Leading Light Award Submission Form, Supporting Narrative, and Detailed Documentation describing the agency's achievement and benefits. Complete submission must be provided as one continuous electronic file. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • All award submissions must be emailed to VAGP's President by the advertised submission due date.
  • Applicant must follow all requirements outlined in this award program to be eligible for consideration of award.

Selection Process:

All award submissions will be evaluated and the selected agency recipient will be determined solely by VAGP's Honors and Awards Committee. Any unopposed award submissions do not guarantee an award. Applicants are encouraged to retain a copy of the submission for their records.

Recognition and Award:

Selected agency award recipient will be announced at VAGP's fall event and will receive a bundled award package including the following:

  • Recognition and presentation of the special VAGP Leading Light Award.
  • Recognition in the News & Views, to the membership, and on VAGP's website.
  • One (1) individual Full Event Registration for both the VAGP spring and fall events for the following year.
  • Two (2) individual VAGP Professional Development Low-fee seminar registrations.

The bundled award package may be used by one or more VAGP members employed with the awarded agency. The bundled award package or portions of award are not transferrable to another agency. Registrations for VAGP's spring and fall events and VAGP's Professional Development Low-fee Seminars expire December 31st of the following year.
