Awards: Distinguished Service

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a member or members displaying such distinguished service to the organization.

Eligibility

The recipient of this award need not be a member of a purchasing association or of the purchasing profession but must be recognized for service related to purchasing. No Officer may be considered for this award during their active term of office.

Criteria

Such distinguished service may include but not be limited to:

  • Service to VAGP or NIGP which results in state and/or national recognition that positively reflects on the purchasing profession.
  • Providing active leadership in purchasing organizations and community affairs.
  • Contributions to education and professional development at the state and/or national level.
  • Activities that result in promoting the good name of purchasing organizations and/or the purchasing profession.

Nominations

Any member who wishes to nominate an individual may do so by e-mailing a letter or recommendation to the VAGP President. Deadline is September 17, 2010.

NIGP Distinguished Service Award

The NIGP Board of Directors established the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) in 1950 as the second highest form of recognition offered by the Institute. The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who have provided extraordinary service to their government entity, the community, the Institute or the purchasing profession.
